Letting down her guard…
Might save her life…
With their family name in tatters, Katherine Leofric and her sister are headed for a new life at their brother’s estate. They are escorted by the hardened Jarin, Earl of Borwyn, whom Katherine believes is only after her dowry! Then her sister is abducted on their treacherous journey, and Katherine must rely on Jarin’s protection. Now, seeing a different side to the man she’s sworn to hate, it’s her heart that’s most at risk!
I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This was a steamy one. The unspoken attraction between Katherine and Jarin was on fire and made for an engaging read.
Don’t get me wrong, there was a good and thrilling story beneath all of the meaningful glances and stolen glimpses. Katherine’s sister is abducted and, believing her life to be in danger, Jarin and Katherine set out in hot pursuit.
I don’t believe it’s a spoiler to reveal that Jarin’s attraction to Katherine is fully reciprocated and, despite seeming like a mistake, they break their resolve to remain as friends.
I found that Jarin was written wonderfully and I could imagine this strong warrior leaping to Katherine’s aid as she discovered how lacking her equestrian skills were.
If you enjoy medieval romances, this is a glorious example of the trope.
Author Bio –
Ella Matthews lives and works in beautiful South Wales. When not thinking about handsome heroes she can be found walking along the coast with her husband and their two children (probably still thinking about heroes but at least pretending to be interested in everyone else).
