Blog Blitz – The Sunshine Sisters: Skye (Little Duck Pond Café) by Rosie Green @Rosie_Green88 @rararesources #BookReview #LittleDuckPondCafe #BlogBlitz #RespectRomFic #TheSunshineSistersSkye

Having first discovered this charming series via Kindle Unlimited, I have read them all and love that I am now part of the blog tours and blitzes.  The Little Duck Pond Cafe is a series of Novella’s that pack a real punch.  Tackling some challenging scenarios, love and friendship is always in focus with a lovely helping of romance to go with it.  If you’d like to read some of my earlier reviews, you can follow these links: A Winter Wonderland and The Sunshine Sisters – Aurora

Thanks to Rachel Gilbey of Rachel’s Random Resources for the blog tour invite and support and for arranging for my digital advance reading copy in exchange for my honest review. You can read my thoughts below.

Synopsis

The Sunshine Sisters: Skye. This is BOOK TWO of a TRILOGY in the popular Little Duck Pond Café series:
Skye Sunshine has a theory that workmen, when in your house, should be seen and not heard. But Saul, the annoyingly sexy handyman clearly hasn’t received the memo! He’s far too cheeky and irritating for her liking.
But when Skye’s peace of mind and reputation as an actress is threatened by hacks desperate for a story, can she really afford to turn down Saul’s offer – to whisk her away from the limelight to the privacy of his rustic cabin in the woods?

Review

We briefly met Skye in book one of this trilogy and can be forgiven for taking little interest in her as she flounced around with an entitled air. This time, we get to dig a little deeper and learn that she’s really troubled by some anonymous communications and a paparazzi stalker.  Skye is a successful TV actress and once enjoyed a little success in America, but that was short lived. This story shines a light on her career and her mistakes.

Against my own instincts, I actually found that I liked Skye once her airs and graces were stripped away. The eldest of the three sisters, she has nursed a feeling of abandonment since her unconventional upbringing. As we get to know her, it’s soon quite clear that her spoiled attitude is not the real Skye.

We are also introduced to Saul, the handyman hired to carry out some maintenance at her sister’s new flat. Saul is the antithesis of the kind of men Skye is used to. However, he’s a wonderful book boyfriend, and I fell a little in lust with his gentle yet protective nature.

Rosie Green doesn’t shy away from the gritty truth of celebrity and creates believable themes that are all set to challenge Skye and her professional future. Of course, I don’t include spoilers, but there are plenty of surprises that certainly had me stunned.  Despite the fact that I am not a celebrity, I found Skye’s predicaments to be totally believable and scarily relatable, as I think most of us have misplaced our trust at least once.

There’s enough included backstory to enjoy this book as a standalone, but I would wholly recommend reading more than one…

Author Bio

Rosie’s series of Little Duck Pond Café novellas is centred around life in a country village cafe. Skye’s story is the second in a trilogy called THE SUNSHINE SISTERS. Watch out for Blossom’s dramatic and emotional story, which completes the trilogy and is out in early June 2024!
